We would like to talk about ー surplus.
A surplus happens when there is an overproduction of parts or uppers in the process of production. Although we are trying to work towards the ideal zero waste situation, a surplus can still happen due to overestimation, minimum order quantity or change in plan.
Instead of keeping them away in storage, we use these excess materials and parts to create what we now refer to as the surplus collection. The intention remains to re imagine and reinterpreting them into a new mood with aided tweaks in detail and accent and reduce material waste to the best we can.
The Sommer Slipper was the first style we did in surplus. Naturally, stocks are limited as no new parts were produced to add on to the excess. Modeled after the Sommer Sandal, we reintroduced it in a more accessible flat style that will be made available as part of our permanent collection soon.
In the coming weeks, the Dos Sandal (formerly known as the Double Band Sandal) will be available in surplus from our Holiday 2018 and Lunar 2019 collections. It will feature bands from the Double Band Sandal in Seafoam and Gin paired with a versatile neutral base from our New Classics 2019 line-up. Along with the Fuchsia Suede bands, the Dos Sandal will now feature a laminated wood slant heel for added depth and dimension.
We hope this will give you a better understanding of our surplus collection that you can look forward to when they are ready.
